Bags and Boards Episode IV: "The Voyage Home"

Hey everyone. Bags and Boards Episode IV: "The Voyage Home" is now completed after a long, arduous month of filming. This episode is much larger in scale than the rest of the episodes. I hope that you all like it. Watch it in full HD above.

In this fourth episode entitled "The Voyage Home," the gang gets lost on the way to the Jackson Comic-Con while Betty and Steven get closer than they ever imagined.

This episode guest stars Larry Kenney, the voice of Lion-O from Thundercats.

"Bags and Boards" is a web series created by Wesley Caldwell, Austin Caldwell, Jay Long and Dale Griffin that follows comic book store workers as they struggle with the daily grind, antagonistic customers, love and hard economic times. Despite all of this, they maintain a positive outlook on life, have fun and celebrate the wonderful lifestyle of the comic book world.

"Bags and Boards" is a non-profit web series made for fun and to celebrate the world of comics. No money has been made by the creation of this show.

*Note: Since this a new episode, this will be at the top of the page for a week. The Bags and Boards Episode Index will be back at the top starting next week. Thanks*

Episode IV: "The Voyage Home" is Coming Next Week

Hey everyone.

I just wanted all of you to know that the long-awaited and long-delayed Bags and Boards Episode IV: "The Voyage Home" will be released online next week. I filmed the final scene last night and will have it all edited up soon.

Episode IV is very different from the rest of the episodes. Its scope and scale is much bigger, going from the comic store, to neighborhoods, to rural areas and to the Jackson Comic-Con. It also guest stars Larry Kenney, the voice of Lion-O from Thundercats, Sonny the Cocoa Puffs Bird, Count Chocula and Best Week Ever. It also features many generous vendors and showmen from the Jackson Comic-Con.

This episode has taken over a month to film. I hope the long filming process and wait pays off for all of you. Until it is released, please enjoy some stills above and below.

More Stills and Updates on Episode III

So this past week I had a somewhat tragic event befall me. I was essentially done editing the majority of the footage for Episode III when my external hard drive fell off my desk and disconnected during an editing session. As a result of this, my Episode III file was erased and a week's worth of editing was shot down the drain. Although I managed to keep all of my clips intact, select clips were damaged (see the still above), they were all knocked out of order and all of my edits were deleted.

Because of this event, my spirits have been pretty down. However, I have re-begun the process of editing and I am getting close to where I was when all of this happened. Still, it has delayed things somewhat.

Tonight is the last night of filming for Episode III. If all goes well (i.e. if I don't get screwed over again), it should be online later this coming week. Cross your fingers.

Until then, enjoy some new stills from this past week of shooting. You get to see more of Bruce and Brenningworth, along with Cami Roebuck as a new character named Gwenith (though she isn't completely new; she appeared briefly in Episode II).

Look for Episode III here later this coming week.

Bags and Boards Episode II: "The Clone Saga"

Okay everyone, I know it's been a long wait but here is episode II. I'm a Vimeo plus member now so I can now embed the video in Full HD on this site. Enjoy it above. Please go to the original Vimeo page to leave comments and push the "like" button. Also, please leave comments here.

In this second episode entitled "The Clone Saga," Steven deals with love problems, Bruce and Brenningworth have theological discussions and a new customer named Conner comes to the store to get advice on how to pick up a "comic book girl."

I hope you all enjoy the episode. We put a lot of hard work into it and I am proud of it.

Episode II Poster

Here is Austin's poster for Bags and Boards Episode II: The Clone Saga. It is in the style of the first poster but introduces some new characters as well as showing off some you might already be familiar with from episode I. The poster also successfully gets across some of the tonal changes in the new episode. I like it.

Tomorrow night, we are having a private premiere of Episode II at Heroes and Dreams. The episode will be here Sunday for viewing in full high definition. I know it's been a long wait but I think you will all think it has been worth it when you view the episode. We really have put an incredible amount of effort into it. It surpasses episode I in pretty much every way in my opinion.

Check back here Sunday to see Episode II.

This is an out-take from episode II in which Red Shirt Guy returns to give a rant on Lost. I hope you all enjoy it.

Episode II should be done by late next week.

The Second Episode II Teaser

This new teaser, unlike yesterday's, actually contains footage from the episode II. It introduces the character of Conner (played by Zach Osborn), who plays a major part in the episode.

I hope you guys enjoy this.

Bags and Boards Episode II: "The Clone Saga" should wrap up production by the end of this week. Be looking for it on here late next week.

Episode II Teaser

Today was our third full day of filming episode II and, afterwards, we decided to shoot a short little teaser for the Internet to let people know we are in fact still making the series. This short has nothing to do with the episode but it's kind of enjoyable to watch and I figured I'd put it up here. It's actually based on a real conversation / debate that took place in the store between everyone who actually appears in the scene.

Episode II should be done in two to three weeks. Expect more updates along the way.

Stills from Episode II: "The Clone Saga"

Filming for Episode II: "The Clone Saga" has officially begun. Here are some of the first stills from the first two days of filming. Filming will pick back up on Sunday and most of next week. The episode should be on the Internet in about three weeks. Just looking at these stills, you may be able to pick up on some of the slight directional changes we are making in this episode.

Thank you all for your patience.

More to come in the coming days.

Creative Meeting for Season One

Yesterday, we had our first creative meeting to discuss our plans for Season One of Bags and Boards. In this meeting, I went over my outline for the rest of the season and we discussed various specifics that will be involved in the creation of the rest of the show.

Enjoy these behind the scenes pictures that Austin took from the meeting of most of the principal cast and crew of the show.

For those wondering, we have our table read for Episode II on May 10th. Principal photography for that episode will begin shortly after. Episodes should be coming out at a regular pace starting then. I just have to get through school before I can begin devoting all my time to this again.

Episode II Update

Just wanted to let you guys know that Episode II is being written. As you can see from the cover page of the script (pictured above), it is entitled "The Clone Saga." Anyone familiar with comics history and / or Spider-man should know what that is referring to.

We should have the episode in the can in about a month (school is a big delaying factor at the moment). They should come out a lot faster after that.

Thank you for your interest and patience. I hope you guys enjoy the episode when it finally hits. I really like what I've written so far.

Bags and Boards Episode I- "The Dark Knight"

Go here for Full HD version.

Here is the first episode of the show. It tied for first place with Thomas Webb's "The Dorm" at the MC Film Festival. I'm really happy with the way it turned out.

In this episode entitled the "The Dark Knight", Clark argues the merits of The Dark Knight and other comic book movies with a customer, Steven takes interest in an attractive female customer and Bruce and Brenningworth contemplate stealing an expensive Boba Fett helmet.
